Getting Started with Plays.tv

Now that you’ve installed Plays.tv, you’re ready to start recording your favorite games!
If you want to customize your Plays.tv settings, we’ve created this handy quick start guide for you.

Whether it’s changing your recording settings, editing your auto-manage space prefences, or tweaking your audio configurations, we’re here to help!

To get started, you can access your preferences by clicking the gear icon located here:

In this guide, we’ll highlight a few key preferences that will help you get the most out of Plays.tv. Let’s start with video:

VIDEO

The first section you’ll see is video preferences. You can enable manual recording and set your bookmark hotkey here. You can also set your recording quality to fit your needs:

IN-GAME OVERLAY

Let’s talk about the in-game overlay. You can choose to enable your in-game overlay or change the position of the overlay. Here’s what the in-game overlay looks like:

You can configure your overlay to display the elapsed recording time or show hotkeys (such as your bookmark key).

AUDIO

Managing your audio settings is a breeze. You can change the volume of the audio recorded, or mute the audio entirely.

If you want to enable your microphone, simply check the “Record Microphone” box and adjust the volume to your liking.

AUTO-MANAGE SPACE

You’ll never have to worry about running out of space for your recordings with our auto-manage space feature. You can find this setting in the advanced tab of your preferences.
You can change how much space on your drive you’d like to reserve for raw Plays.tv videos. If you record over that amount, Plays.tv will automatically remove older raw footage.

CLIENT

Want to make sure that Plays.tv is ready to go when you’re ready to play?
Make sure that your Plays.tv client starts when Windows starts.

You can also manage your desktop notification settings here in the “desktop growls” section.

That concludes our start-up guide. Now, get out there and start playing!
